You will oversee documentation, billing compliance, staff training, and partnerships with academic programs to develop a pipeline of new clinicians while maintaining a limited caseload.

Qualifications

  • Florida licensure as an LCSW or LMHC is required.
  • Qualified Supervisor in Florida for registered clinical interns is required.
  • Minimum 5 years direct mental health services experience.
  • Minimum 2 years supervising registered interns.
  • Experience with trauma-informed care and diverse populations.
  • Experience with Medicaid/Medicare and private insurance documentation and billing.

Responsibilities

Description

Job Summary: The Clinical Director provides leadership and oversight of JFCS’s outpatient counseling services, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed, and evidence-based care. This position supervises the intake team, billing specialist, licensed clinicians, registered interns, and student interns. The Clinical Director is responsible for overseeing documentation and billing compliance, coordinating training opportunities for clinical staff, and ensuring continuous quality improvement. This leader also strengthens academic partnerships to develop a pipeline of new clinicians, and maintains a limited caseload.


Requirements

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


Leadership & Supervision


  • Provide bi-weekly clinical supervision to licensed mental health professionals and weekly supervision to registered interns.

  • Coordinate and lead bi-weekly clinical team meetings.

  • Provide supervision and support to student interns, ensuring alignment with academic and licensing requirements.

  • Serve as point of contact for mental health crisis situations, including Baker Act decisions.

  • Oversee the intake team and billing support specialist, ensuring smooth coordination of referrals and front-end service operations.

  • Assign incoming referrals to appropriate clinicians in collaboration with intake staff.


Quality Assurance & Documentation


  • Oversee clinical documentation standards to ensure compliance with Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance billing requirements.

  • Review and respond to denied or “kicked” claims, identifying and correcting documentation gaps.

  • Conduct quarterly chart audits, peer reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Monitor HIPAA compliance and report any potential breaches in accordance with JFCS policy.

  • Support clinical staff in meeting productivity expectations and quality benchmarks.


Training & Program Development


  • Identify, coordinate, and facilitate training opportunities for clinical staff to remain current in trauma-informed, evidence-based practices.

  • Promote a learning environment and serve as a field supervisor for social work and counseling interns.

  • Develop partnerships with local graduate programs and universities to maintain a strong internship pipeline and support “grow-your-own” workforce development strategies.

  • Collaborate with program leadership to expand services and enhance impact.


Direct Service


  • Maintain a limited caseload to ensure continued connection to clinical practice.

  • Participate in agency-wide meetings, initiatives, and strategic planning as appropriate.


Qualifications


  • Florida licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) required.

  • Must be a Qualified Supervisor in the state of Florida for registered clinical interns.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience providing direct mental health services to children and/or adults.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience supervising registered interns.

  • Experience working with diverse populations and providing trauma-informed care.

  • Experience with documentation and compliance for Medicaid/Medicare and private insurance.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)


  • Strong clinical knowledge and experience with trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy models.

  • Demonstrated leadership, supervision, and team-building skills.

  • Familiarity with billing processes, credentialing, and insurance requirements.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to represent JFCS professionally and positively in both internal and external settings.

  • Proficiency in EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Commitment to ongoing learning, quality improvement, and the JFCS mission.


Training Requirements:


  • Training in evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care.

  • Field supervisor certification or willingness to complete required training to supervise student interns.

  • Completion of annual CEUs required for licensure.

  • Participation in ongoing professional development and clinical leadership trainings.
