Job summary

Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant in San Antonio, TX seeks a Dietitian – Transplant to plan, organize and evaluate all phases of nutritional care for pre- and post-transplant patients at several MHS Transplant Clinics.

You will assess, educate patients and caregivers, participate in satellite clinic operations, document interventions in medical records, and collaborate with the transplant team to optimize candidacy and waitlist nutrition management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in nutritional aspects of patient care in acute care setting
• Registered Dietitian and Licensed in the State of Texas

Responsibilities

• Perform nutritional assessment, develop plans of care and educate patients and caregivers as appropriate.
• Participate in satellite clinic operations for patient assessment and multidisciplinary meetings with the transplant team to deem candidacy.
• Meet patient needs; understand disease processes and dialysis needs for transplant evaluation and follow-up.
• Determine recommendations for nutritional status improvements and address barriers to transplantation.
• Maintain documentation in the patient’s medical record of interventions and recommendations.
• Collaborate with medical team and referring dietitians to determine best transplant plan of care and waitlist nutrition management.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Dietitian - Transplant you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and evaluating all phases of nutritional care for pre-transplant as well as post-transplant patient populations at several MHS Transplant Clinics. As a Dietitian – Transplant you will coordinate and maintain a high standard of nutritional care and provide advice regarding patient candidacy.

What you will do in this role:

• As a Dietitian – Transplant you will perform nutritional assessment, develop plans of care and educate patients and caregivers as appropriate.
• You will participate in satellite clinic operations for patient assessment and multi-disciplinary meetings with the transplant team members to deem candidacy.
• You will be responsible for meeting patient needs. Must understand the disease process as well as dialysis needs for patients undergoing transplant evaluation and follow up.
• You will determine recommendations for nutritional status improvements and provide direction and instruction for resolution of barriers to transplantation.
• You will maintain documentation in the patient’s medical record all interventions and recommendations to determine candidacy.
• You will collaborate with medical team as well as referring dieticians to determine the best transplant plan of care and waitlist nutritional management.

What qualifications you will need:

• You must have a Bachelor Degree focused on nutritional aspects of patient care in acute care setting
• You must be a Registered Dietitian and Licensed in the State of Texas
