Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake is seeking a Clinical Dietitian PRN to join their interdisciplinary team. The role supports nutrition care for patients of all ages, implementing Nutrition Care Process with an emphasis on evidence-based medical nutrition therapy.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in Nutrition/Dietetics, ACEND-accredited supervised practice, and an RD credential, with 1–2 years hospital clinical nutrition experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics required.
• ACEND-accredited supervised practice required.
• 1–2 years hospital clinical nutrition experience preferred.
• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required.

Responsibilities

• Perform nutrition screenings and assessments per policy.
• Conduct nutrition-focused physical exams for at-risk patients.
• Identify patients at nutritional risk using established criteria.
• Evaluate and address age- and disease-specific nutrition needs.
• Develop and implement individualized nutrition plans of care.
• Monitor outcomes of medical nutrition therapy.
• Provide nutrition education to patients and caregivers.
• Participate in RD chart audits with at least 80% score.
• Follow nutrition care guidelines and ethical standards.

ROTATING SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, including rotating weekend coverage

To collaborate as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide patients of all age groups and acuity levels with high quality Medical Nutrition Therapy following the Nutrition Care Process. Note: The following is not intended to be a finite list of responsibilities for this Clinical Dietitian position

• Performs timely nutrition screenings and assessments in accordance with the Corporate Screening and Assessment Policy
• Perform nutrition focused physical exams on patients who are at nutritional risk.
• Identify patients at nutritional risk based on established criteria
• Evaluate age specific, developmental and disease specific nutritional needs of patients
• Develop and implement individualized nutritional plan of care.
• Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness and outcomes of medical nutrition therapy interventions.
• Identify patient nutrition education needs and provide nutrition counseling to patients, family, and/or caregivers.
• Participate in the competency assessment process and achieve a passing score of 80% or higher on RD chart audits
• Adheres to nutrition care guidelines, the nutrition care manual, department/facility guidelines and/or protocols to provide evidence-based nutrition care.
• Integrates the Academy Code of Ethics in all areas of practice.

What qualifications you will need:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or equivalent required
• Completion of an ACEND-accredited supervised practice program required
• One to two years of hospital clinical nutrition experience preferred
• Licensure, Certifications, Training and Credentials:
• Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Required
