Job summary

Sweetwater Care in Los Angeles is seeking a clinical dietitian to help patients improve health through tailored nutrition plans. You will assess nutritional needs, design interventions, and monitor responses to nutrition therapy in inpatient and outpatient settings.

The role requires collaboration with doctors and dietitians, education for patients and families, and adherence to standards of service. Experience with medical nutrition therapy and documenting patient progress is essential.

Qualifications

• Understanding of and aptitude for applying all elements of the nutrition care procedure.
• Comprehensive understanding of and application of medical nutrition therapy and nutrition services.
• Skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making.
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally with patients, the public, hospital staff, and doctors.
• Capacity to work autonomously in designated patient care units.
• Ability to advise and instruct others.
• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and nutrient analysis in general.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in adopting long-lasting lifestyle changes through dietary education.
• Recommend medical diets for specific diseases in collaboration with clinicians.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive treatment.
• Discuss with doctors to determine best nutrition plans for individual needs.
• Develop and adjust nutrition plans and monitoring strategies.
• Conduct nutrition assessments and identify needs and statuses.
• Provide nutrition education to patients and families.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and committees.
• Document patient records and adherence to dietary recommendations.
