The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services is seeking a Clinical Dietitian at Clarks Summit State Hospital to plan and provide nutritional care, assess dietary needs, and guide nutrition plans to support recovery and patient outcomes.

You will work with a professional team to document progress, participate in treatment meetings, and maintain current nutrition knowledge through continuing education and related assignments.

THE POSITION

The Clinical Dietitian position with the Department of Human Services (DHS) offers a chance to make a real impact on patient health. This role allows you to use your knowledge to guide nutrition plans and support recovery. Your work will help shape daily care and improve patient outcomes at the Clarks Summit State Hospital. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on planning, organizing, and providing nutritional care for patients, including those with specialized dietary needs. The role supports patient health by creating nutrition plans, offering guidance, and completing documentation. As a Clinical Dietitian, you will perform the following duties:

• Patient Assessment: Complete nutrition assessments, collect dietary and medical information, and document progress in medical records
• Team Collaboration: Participate in treatment team meetings, share recommendations, and contribute to staff training and education
• Menu Planning: Evaluate and implement regular and therapeutic menus, determine proper nutrients, and ensure diets follow standards and physician orders
• Program Support: Assist with performance improvement activities, review nutrition policies, and support department procedures
• Staff Guidance: Provide direction to dietetic staff to ensure accuracy and continuity of nutritional care
• Professional Development: Maintain current nutrition knowledge through continuing education and complete related assignments

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
• Overtime and travel as needed
• Free parking

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Special Requirements:

• You must possess active certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) as issued by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, or proof of eligibility for such certification.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
