Job summary

Mosaic Life Care is hiring a Clinical Dietitian (RD) to provide evidence-based nutrition care under leadership, assess nutritional needs, and collaborate with the care team. You will develop and implement care plans, order nutrition interventions in collaboration with providers, monitor outcomes, and educate patients while supporting community events.

  • RD credential required; ACEND-accredited program completion or foreign equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred with RD eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients’ nutrition status and document in EMR.
  • Develop, monitor, and revise nutrition care plans with interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide nutrition education to patients based on needs.
  • Create education curricula for patient classes and participate in meetings.

Job Description

The clinical dietitian (RD) works under the supervision of leadership. The RD is responsible for provision of optimal nutritional care to patients identified in accordance with department standards of care. This is includes: assessing patients' nutritional status utilizing all pertinent information; identifying nutrient requirements according to age specific and disease specific needs of patients; working with members of the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans for patients; providing orders for nutritional care as defined in Mosaic Life Care standard AN7030 in collaboration with providers; monitoring the effectiveness of nutrition interventions and revising these as needed and providing nutrition education based on assessment of individual learning needs. The RD functions as the nutrition expert within the facility and at Mosaic Life Care supported community events as appropriate. The RD participates in process improvement and quality initiatives. The RD Maintains competency and professional development related to nutrition trends, research, policy, scope and standards of practice.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses patients’ nutrition status and nutritional needs and completes appropriate and accurate EMR documentation
  • Develops, monitors and revises nutrition care plans as part of interdisciplinary plan of care.
  • Upon nutrition assessment of a patient, manages nutritional care order per standard in collaboration with provider.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of nutrition interventions and revises these as needed to meet ongoing nutritional needs of patients.
  • Provides nutrition education to patients based on individual nutrition and learning needs.
  • Develop curriculum for patient nutrition classes and/or interdisciplinary team in-services when required by the clinical area of care. Provide education for community when appropriate. Participates as needed in patient care meetings.
  • Provide supervised learning experiences for dietetic interns and practicum students.
  • Participate in process improvement, quality initiatives in department and/or organization and department and facility meetings/committees
  • Participate in competency assessment process and self-evaluation to establish professional goals.
  • Other duties as assigned
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree - ACEND-accredited (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics) dietitian program or foreign equivalent - if completed (RD) exam for the first time, on or before December 31, 2023 - Required
  • Master's Degree - ACEND-accredited (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics) dietitian program or foreign equivalent - if completed (RD) exam for the first time, on or after January 1, 2024 - Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Dietician (RD) - Registration through Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; maintain/complete 75 hours of continuing professional education (CPE) every 5 years - Required Upon Hire
  • Licensed Dietician (LD) - State of Missouri - Required Upon Hire
  • Driver's License - Valid In State - Required Upon Hire
Travel Requirements
  • Must be able to travel between various system facilities and off-site locations as needed - Required

  • Speaks clearly to communicate with patients, physicians, staff, families and the public.
  • Ability to input data into computer.
  • Must write and type legibly in medial record.

  • Ability to move throughout department and hospital to interview patients and interact with interdisciplinary team.
Essential Mental Abilities
  • Ability to obtain and evaluate information from patient, medical history or lab data to develop or revise care plans.
  • Ability to calculate individual nutrient needs according to standards.
  • Uses organizational skills to plan schedules/work activities to meet time lines.
  • Ability to speak in front of groups of employees and community members regarding different aspects of nutrition.
Essential Sensory Requirements
  • Visually assesses patient’s nutritional status; read medical information, email and standards.
  • Ability to hear patient, staff, physician and public comments/questions.
