Job summary

Driscoll Children’s Hospital seeks a Clinical Dietitian for the Outpatient Specialty Clinic in Laredo, TX. You will provide evidence-based nutrition care to pediatric patients, perform comprehensive assessments, and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the care team.

You will educate patients and families on nutrition strategies, monitor progress, and document outcomes in the EMR while supporting compliance and billing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nutrition from an ACEND-accredited program.
• Current RD/RDN credential through the CDR.
• Texas state licensure within 90 days of hire and Food Manager/Food Safety certification within 90 days.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, with BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical nutrition therapy for pediatric patients in an outpatient setting.
• Develop and adjust individualized nutrition care plans.
• Educate children and families on nutrition recommendations and treatment goals.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the EMR.
• Support billing and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team.
• Help improve access to pediatric nutrition services in Laredo and surrounding communities.

Position Details

As a Clinical Dietitian at Driscoll’s Outpatient Specialty Clinic in Laredo, you’ll play an important role in supporting the health and development of pediatric patients throughout the community. You’ll provide evidence-based nutrition care to children with a variety of medical and nutritional needs. This includes completing comprehensive nutrition assessments, developing individualized care plans, educating patients and caregivers, and working closely with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Providing medical nutrition therapy for pediatric patients in an outpatient setting
• Monitoring patient progress and adjusting nutrition care plans as needed
• Educating children and families on nutrition recommendations and treatment goals
• Reviewing and verifying diet, formula, and supplement orders
• Documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record
• Supporting accurate billing and regulatory compliance
• Serving as a trusted nutrition resource for patients, families, and clinical team members
• Helping improve access to specialized pediatric nutrition services for families in Laredo and surrounding communities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in nutrition or a related field from an ACEND-accredited program
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
• Current Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential through the CDR
• Obtain Texas state licensure (TDLR) within 90 days of hire
• Food Manager/Food Safety Certification within 90 days of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license
