Job Description:
  • Evaluate and assess nutritional status of patients. Initiate medical nutrition therapy to achieve patient goals. Establish nutrition diagnosis and develop individualized plan of care with appropriate interventions.
  • Re‑assess / Monitor patients to evaluate the effectiveness of medical nutrition therapy and adjust patient’s plan of care. Evaluate process towards goals.
  • Accurately assess, prescribe and maintain nutritional interventions for enteral and parenteral supported patients.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and timely discharge.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served including: newborn, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
  • Serve as a resource lecturer for healthcare providers, students and the community. Precept dietetic interns for supervised practice experience.
  • Quality: Compliance with all local, state, federal and medical centre regulatory, safety, sanitation, and security standards. Participate in performance improvement (PI) studies, assist with data collection and support action plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licences:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or a related field
  • Registered Dietitian or RDE (RD Eligible) as defined by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Licensed as a dietitian / nutritionist by the State where work is being performed.
Specialised Knowledge:
  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age‑specific, population‑specific and diagnosis‑related care to patients.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem‑solving, time‑management and decision‑making skills.
