Responsibilities

• Determine patients at nutritional risk using approved criteria and referrals from nursing.
• Perform nutritional assessments.
• Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies.
• Follow HIPAA compliance guidelines.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed.
• Educate patients, families, and staff on nutrition-related topics.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
• Conduct daily meal rounds.
• Provide ongoing in-service training to nursing staff on the nutritional screening component of the patient profile and participate in nursing orientation.
