Position Summary

The Clinical Coordinator provides clinical leadership and operational oversight for the Recovery and Reentry Program Serving Justice-involved individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring behavioral health conditions. The Clinical Coordinator supervises the clinical staff, peer recovery specialists, and case managers; ensures delivery of evidence-based, person-centered services; and promotes continuity of care from incarceration through successful community reintegration. The position is responsible for clinical quality assurance, staff supervision, and development, interdisciplinary care coordination, program implementation, fidelity monitoring, and collaboration with correctional staff, courts, probation and parole, healthcare providers, and community partners. The Clinical Coordinator ensures services are delivered in accordance with Horizon policies, DBHDS standards, grant requirements, and evidence-based practices to improve treatment engagement, reduce overdose risk, and decrease recidivism. This is a grant-funded position that may terminate with the ending of the grant funding.

Required Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree from a program that prepares individuals to practice counseling (60-hr Master’s Program), which is offered by a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency. (Re: 54.1-3500 of the Code of Virginia)
  • Two years of post-licensure clinical experience and one year of supervisory experience, preferably in a mental health setting.
  • LCSW, LPC or LMFT

Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of and adherence to existing professional ethical standards. Ability to form and maintain effective counseling relationships with clients, to monitor client movement in the therapy process, and terminate the therapeutic relationship in appropriate ways. Ability to supervise employees, providing direct training when needed. Ability to effectively communicate orally, both in person and by telephone. Ability to effectively communicate in writing and to prepare written documents. Knowledge of and adherence to agency policies and procedures. Ability to maintain a consistent and dependable work schedule. Ability to travel to meetings, other campuses, and counseling sites. Knowledge of and adherence to licensure regulations related to services provided. Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely and appropriate manner. Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment. Knowledge and ability to provide clinical supervision to QMHP-Es, Interns, and/ or LMHP-Es. Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holidays, etc.) as required.

Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to client @other locations. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites; Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
