Job summary

UPMC Presbyterian invites a Clinical Chemistry Pathologist to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA. The role includes leadership in the clinical chemistry laboratory, on-call clinical consultations, and active participation in education and research within a multi-hospital system.

The candidate should hold an MD or PhD with board certification in Clinical Chemistry (or eligibility) and be eligible for PA medical licensure. The position offers academic rank and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience in a hospital-based clinical chemistry lab providing technical directorship is beneficial.
• Expertise in laboratory quality management across pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases.
• Informatics expertise and its clinical application in Pathology is a plus.
• Board certification from ABCC, NRCC(CC), CAP or equivalent.
• Ph.D. or M.D. with board certification in Clinical Chemistry or equivalent; eligibility if Ph.D.
• If M.D., board certification or eligibility in clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-call attending responsibilities including clinical consultations for physicians and providers.
• Develop and deliver educational content for medical students, residents, fellows, and staff.
• Participate in divisional educational activities and trainee evaluations.
• Pursue basic, clinical, or translational research and publications as appropriate.
• Lead and participate in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and improvement initiatives.
