Tampa General Hospital is seeking a Clinical Charge Nurse for the Free Standing ED. You will supervise nursing staff, plan day-to-day operations, manage staffing and call schedules, and ensure efficient delivery of high-quality patient care with appropriate delegation based on competency.

Requirements include an Associate's Degree in Nursing, RN license issued by Florida or a compact state, BLS/ACLS/NIHSS certifications, and a minimum of 2 years RN experience.

Description

Supervises staff registered nurse, and other staff members. Plans work for efficiency and manages productivity of staff in day-to-day operations. Manages daily schedule staffing and call schedule. Sets priorities and delegates patient care functions so that work is equitably assigned based on competency and ability of others. Inclusive of age specific competency. Assumes responsibility for care of patients assigned closely supervises assists and/or cares for the surgical patient. Reports pertinent information to staff members, physicians, and Director. Reviews daily patient assignments, communicates with Director and recommends changes as needed. Assigns and supervises extra duty assignments to see that they are completed i.e., ensure stock orders are competed per materials management schedule; all logs are completed daily. Assigns meal and break times. Identifies and implements changes related to physical capacity, distribution of supplies and/or work performance that enhances staff efficiency and safety. Supervises staff member quality and quantity of work performed and recommended changes as needed. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Essential Functions

• Assesses and analyzes the health status of patients in assigned nursing unit in a comprehensive manner.
• Performs and/or assures completed assessments on all patients admitted within the designated time delineated in policy/unit standards.
• Performs on-going assessments and documents according to policy and procedure.
• Reports significant findings of admission and on-going assessments to appropriate member of heath care team.
• Initiates discharge planning process with initial admission assessment.
• Plans patient care on assigned unit in collaboration with the patient, family, and health care team.
• Formulates individualized patient plan of care based on assessment data within the designated time delineated in policy/unit standards.
• Updates plan of care based on the patient assessment within appropriate time period.
• Directs, implements and coordinates patient care activities on assigned unit to ensure the delivery of quality care.
• Communicates the plan of care to other members of the healthcare team through daily worksheet conferences, verbally during the shift and shift report. Directs care team members in accordance with their scope of practice.
• Communicates and documents all patient care given including assessments, plan of care, interventions, patient response, and follow-up.
• Transcribes and directs the implementation of physician orders.
• Provides patient education based on assessed needs and evaluates understanding.
• Conducts ongoing evaluation of patient outcomes and documents effectiveness of planned and implemented interventions and strategies in relation to the plan of care within time frames per policy/unit standards. Includes patient and family in the evaluation process.
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities, including Core Measures. Completes and documents Core Measure Indicators timely and accurately. Collaborates with nurse leader regarding needed policy/procedure changes.

Education

• Associate's Degree Nursing

License/Registration

• Registered Nurse- Issued by Florida or Compact State

Certification

• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Red Cross or American Heart Association And
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association or American Red CrossAnd
• NIHSS

• At least 2 years Registered Nurse (RN) experience required.
