Job summary

Trinity Health in Michigan is seeking a Part-time Spiritual Care professional who will provide compassionate spiritual support to patients, families, and staff as part of the multidisciplinary care team. The role focuses on addressing spiritual distress, crisis intervention, and grief support within a hospital setting.

The successful candidate will have a Master’s in theology or related field, 1–3 years of Spiritual Care experience, and ideally a Board Certified Chaplain credential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in theology, religion, spiritual care or spirituality, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One (1) to three (3) years of Spiritual Care experience, including CPE training, is required. Chaplaincy or Spiritual Care ministry experience is preferred.
• Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) strongly preferred via licensing groups: APC, CASC, NACC, and NAJC, with 4 ACPE units and faith-based endorsement.
• Ability to plan, develop, and implement programs for fulfilling departmental objectives in meeting spiritual needs across the care continuum.

Responsibilities

• Knows, understands, and implements Trinity Health Mission, Vision and Values.
• Delivers transformative Spiritual Care experiences to patients, families, and colleagues and respects diverse religious beliefs.
• Assesses religious and spiritual needs and provides interventions or referrals.
• Documents Spiritual Care assessments and outcomes in the EMR with appropriate care plans.
• Collaborates as a clinical member of the inter-professional healthcare team.
• Measures and improves Spiritual Care processes aligned with Mission Integration strategy.
• Promotes workplace spirituality and interfaith collaboration with clergy from outside communities.
