Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Mississippi State RN license and BLS certification.
• Ability to recognize patients' needs across age groups and procedures.
• Ability to function in stressful situations and maintain clinical judgment.
• Willingness to rotate shifts, days off and work areas; overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care planning, organizing, and directing nursing functions for unit patients.
• Initiate and implement patient care plans; assign tasks suited to staff skill level.
• Maintain accurate and complete recording and reporting.
• Administer medications and IV solutions per physician orders.
• Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality; comply with policies and safety standards.
• Participate in orientation, in-service training and performance improvement activities.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, medical staff and other departments to ensure quality care.
• Adhere to infection-control policies and procedures; respond calmly in emergencies.
