Job summary

Tri-State Orthopaedic Surgeons is seeking a Clinical Assistant to support daily clinical operations under the direction of the Physician and Director of Clinical Operations. Regular attendance is essential, with a 20-hour part-time schedule and rotating locations.

Typical shifts are Monday and Tuesday 8:00am–5:00pm CST, and Wednesday 8:00am–12:00pm CST. The role involves patient prep, rooming, injections support, and ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a medical setting preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to use judgement and reasoning.
• Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Aptitude to learn new computer programs.
• Ability to work with all physicians and clinical staff.
• Ability to use phone, fax, computer and copier.

Responsibilities

• Calls patients out of the waiting rooms and rooms the patient in appointment order.
• Prepares patients to be seen by ensuring patient is properly dressed in gown or shorts.
• Checks if patient requires X-rays, staple or suture removal, cast removal prior to seeing Physician.
• Straightens exam rooms and places clean sheets on each exam table.
• Ensures clinical areas are prepared to see patients.
• Prepares schedules per physician preference.
• Prepares injections, but not to take the place of the person running the office with the physician.
• Keeps accurate/updated injection log.
• Monitors and stocks exam & shared supply rooms and maintains inventory.
• Assists in injections, aspirations, etc., but not to replace the medical staff.
• Ensures all documentation is on chart electronically including labs, EKG results, therapy notes and medication history.
• Closes rooms at end of office and disposes of trash.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments as needed.
• Assembles surgery packets/education information for medical staff.
• Disposes of waste properly, maintains oxygen tanks.
• Collects dirty laundry and handles storage processing.

Part Time - 20 Hours (requires flexibility to rotate locations interchangeably)

Mondays - 8:00am - 5:00pm CST

Tuesdays - 8:00am - 5:00pm CST

Wednesday – 8:00am - 12:00pm CST

Essential Functions:

• Calls patients out of the waiting rooms and rooms the patient in appointment order
• Prepares patients to be seen by ensuring patient is properly dressed in gown or shorts
• Checks if patient requires X-rays, staple or suture removal, cast removal prior to seeing Physician
• Straightens exam rooms and places clean sheets on each exam table
• Ensures clinical areas are prepared to see patients
• Prepares schedules per physician preference
• Prepares injections, but not to take the place of the person running the office with the physician
• Keep accurate/updated injection log
• Prepares anything extra per nurse/doctor preference
• Monitors and stocks exam & shared supply rooms and maintains appropriate inventory along with monthly expiration date maintenance
• Assists in injections, aspirations, etc. but not to take the place of the medical assistant or nurse
• Ensures all documentation is on chart electronically including but not limited to labs, EKG results, therapy notes and medication history.
• Closes rooms at the end of office by stripping sheets and disposing of all trash on counters
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments as needed
• Assembles surgery packets/ education information for medical assistants/nurses
• Disposes of waste properly
• Maintains oxygen tanks
• Collects dirty laundry and takes to specified storage area for processing
  
  
  

Additional Responsibilities:

• Covers for other associates when on vacation, leave, etc.
• Orders all clinical supplies as needed, puts up supplies when they are delivered,
  
  
  

receives inventory into the Envi system (Clinical Assistant Coordinator only)
