Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a Clinical Assistant to join our Central Staffing Office/Float pool to provide basic direct patient care as delegated by a Registered Nurse in a variety of inpatient settings.

The role includes assisting with feeding and hygiene, recording vitals, monitoring 1:1 safety for suicide watches, transporting supplies and equipment, and reporting changes to the RN; schedule is 36 or 40 hours per week, days and every third weekend.

Qualifications

• 1 year Clinical Assistant experience or equivalent.
• Inpatient experience required.
• Experience working with children strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision and following established procedures, provide basic direct care to patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse in various inpatient settings.
• Assist patients with feeding and hygiene, obtain, measure and record routine information such as temperature, pulse and blood pressure.
• Closely monitor and maintain patient safety for 1:1 care during suicide watches and behavior management.
• Transport patients, supplies and equipment as needed.
• Identify and report unusual findings or changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse.
• Work a schedule of 36 or 40 hours/week, days and every third weekend.

Key Responsibilities

• Under regular supervision and following established procedures and instructions, providing basic direct care to patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse, in a variety of settings inpatient units.


• Assisting patients with feeding and hygiene, obtaining, measuring and recording routine information such as temperature, pulse and blood pressure, and performing other related duties according to specific needs of clinic or unit.


• On a regular basis, closely monitoring and maintaining the safety of patients as instructed for 1:1 care for suicide watches and behavior management.


• Transporting patients, supplies and equipment as needed.


• Identifying and reporting unusual findings or changes in patient condition to Registered Nurse.


• Working a schedule of 36 or 40 hours/week, days and every third weekend.

Education

Minimum Qualifications

• A HS Diploma or equivalent.

Experience

• 1 year of Clinical Assistant experience or equivalent.


• Inpatient experience required.


• Experience working with children strongly preferred.


• Good communication skills and the ability to work on a team.

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
