Indiana University School of Optometry, a leader in clinicaleducation, patient care, and research, is seeking skilledclinicians to join our clinical faculty in Bloomington, Indiana.These are clinical-rank, non-tenure-track faculty positions with apreferred start date of May 1, 2027.

Applicants must hold an O.D. or equivalent degree, be eligible foroptometric licensure in Indiana, and have completed an accreditedresidency program or possess equivalent relevant clinicalexperience. Candidates for the Chief position must also meet theadditional specialty, teaching, and leadership qualificationsdescribed below.

Chief, Binocular Vision/Pediatrics Clinic — OneOpening

The School is seeking a faculty member to serve as Chief of theBinocular Vision/Pediatrics Clinic . The Chief will provideclinical and administrative leadership for the clinic whiledelivering patient-centered care and actively engaging in clinicaland didactic education.

The Chief will help guide the clinical, educational, and strategicdirection of the clinic; coordinate clinical and educationalactivities; support faculty, staff, and students; promoteexcellence and consistency in patient care; and contribute to theclinic’s continued development.

• Demonstrated advanced clinical expertise in pediatricoptometry, binocular vision, or both, with sufficient breadth ofexperience to provide leadership across the scope of theclinic;
• Experience teaching, supervising, or mentoring students,residents, or other health professionals in a clinicalsetting;
• Demonstrated leadership experience involving a clinic, clinicalservice, academic program, residency program, health-care team,professional organization, or comparable initiative; and
• Demonstrated ability to lead collaboratively, coordinateclinical and educational activities, and contribute to clinicalprogram development.

Preferred qualifications include prior experience directing orcoordinating a clinic, clinical service, residency program, academic program, or interdisciplinary clinical team, as well as arecord of professional service or scholarship related to pediatricoptometry, binocular vision, or optometric education.

Clinical and Educational Responsibilities

The ideal candidates will be enthusiastic members of our facultywho are committed to patient-centered care, clinical education, andthe advancement of the profession.

Clinical faculty membersactively engage in clinical and didactic teaching and help prepareour students to provide ethical, evidence-based, patient-focusedcare. Faculty may also have opportunities to participate incollaborative clinical research, community health initiatives, andprofessional activities at the state and national levels.

Primary care clinicians at Indiana University School of Optometrydiagnose and manage a broad range of refractive and ocularconditions, including ocular disease, dry eye, and binocular visiondisorders. Our Binocular Vision/Pediatrics Clinic providescomprehensive care for pediatric patients and adults with binocularvision disorders.

Clinical services include the evaluation andmanagement of myopia, amblyopia, strabismic and non-strabismicbinocular vision disorders, pediatric eye disease, post- TBI visualconditions, visual information-processing disorders, and visiontherapy.

Our specialty clinics provide opportunities for faculty to deliveradvanced care while teaching students through direct clinicalsupervision and instruction. Candidates are expected to contributeto the School’s comprehensive clinical education mission, withspecific clinical responsibilities determined by their areas ofexpertise and the needs of the School.
