The College of Health Sciences at Sam Houston State University (SHSU ) is pleased to invite qualified applications for a Principal Faculty position at the Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professorrank (12-month appointment) in the Master of Physician AssistantStudies ( MPAS ) Program. The Principal Faculty will report to theProgram Director and work closely with other MPAS faculty, andstaff to support the program’s mission and maintain compliance withARC -PA accreditation standards. Primary responsibilities include providing student instruction andteaching courses (didactic and/or clinical as assigned by theProgram Director). The selected candidate will be responsible foradministrative duties, including participating in the admissionprocess, scheduling clinical rotations, and assisting the clinicalteam with program evaluation during the clinical phase. Duties willalso include maintaining data and assessments to prepare reportsfor accreditation purposes. The faculty will be responsible foracademic mentoring and advising of learners. The selected candidatewill assist the Clinical Coordinator in delivering classroomlearning experiences and clinical skills instruction on essentialmedical and clinical science topics, tailored to the individual’squalifications. Collaboration with the Department Chair, Directorof the MPAS Program, Medical Director, and other principal facultymembers will be necessary to manage the curriculum effectively andensure high-quality instruction. Supervise students in didactic and/or clinical courses andactivities. Assist with admissions (e.g. application review,selection, and interviews). Assist in developing and coordinatingcourse design and implementation within the didactic and/orclinical curriculum. Assist with the development, implementation,and evaluation of student performance. Provide academic counselingand advising of students. Participate in service to the department,college, University, and community. Perform other program anddepartment level duties, as assigned. Assist in the evaluationprocess of the curriculum and the program. Assist in thedevelopment, review, and revisions (as necessary) the missionstatement, goals, and competenciesof the program. Assuring theavailability of remedial instruction for students.
Physician Assistant - Master's degree from an ARC -PA accredited program.
