Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED; 3-5 years hospital financial or clinical experience.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong teamwork, organizational skills, and multitasking to meet timelines.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Experience with computer systems including MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Secures all required prior authorizations and documents in OMR.
  • Makes follow up calls to prior authorization agents to ensure timely turnaround.
  • Completes forms including disability, back to work and FMLA for patients.
  • Interviewing patients or their representative to collect or verify information.
  • Secures referrals for outpatient visits and documents in OMR; may include medical clearance.
  • Prepare medical records for attorneys and set up peer reviews for physicians.
  • Secures approval for surgery and ensures medical clearance prior to surgery.
  • Schedules patient surgeries, coordinating with hospital staff.
  • Inputs physician billing charges into Meditech daily.
  • Maintains physician administrative and clinical calendars.
  • Types correspondence and documents requiring complex formatting.
  • Performs check-in and verification of demographics; collects copayments.
