UnitedHealth Group is seeking a full-time Insurance Verification & Authorization Coordinator for a National Remote role, enabling work from anywhere in the U.S. You will coordinate with patients, payers, and clinicians to ensure timely access to care.

You will manage prior authorization processes, including submissions, notifications, appeals, follow-ups and ensure compliance with payer requirements; training is provided and overtime may be needed during peak periods.

This position is full-time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00 am - 7:00 pm local time. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends.

We offer 3 - 4 weeks of classroom training. The hours during training will be 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, CST, Monday - Friday. Training will be conducted virtually from your home.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead insurance verification and prior authorization coordination by partnering with patients, payers, and clinical teams to support timely access to care.
  • Oversee Prior Authorization, including, submission, notification, appeals, follow-up, and resolution activities.
  • Facilitate seamless patient movement through the intake and authorization lifecycle while ensuring compliance with departmental policies and payer requirements.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • Experience working within the health care Industry and with health care insurance
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook
  • Ability to work required overtime during peak season (January-February)
  • Ability to work full-time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00 am - 7:00 pm local time. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of customer service experience
  • Experience working in a hospital, physician's office or medical clinic setting
  • Pharmacy experience
  • Authorization experience
  • Outbound calls experience to insurance companies
  • Clerical or administrative support background
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes
Telecommuting Requirements:
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $29.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
