Job summary

Enloe Health’s ENC Prompt Care unit seeks a Clinic Technician to support patient flow and basic care under nursing supervision. Responsibilities include vitals, POC testing, EKGs, splinting, specimen collection, and preparing patients for clinicians.

The role emphasizes teamwork, accuracy in a fast-paced environment, and strong communication with staff and patients. CPR certification is required, with phlebotomy skills valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum EMT, Military Corpsman, or Medical Assistant training or six months back-office/ED experience.
• Desired: hospital or ambulatory care experience in non-emergency settings.
• Minimum CPR certification.
• Phlebotomy certification CPT I/II or MA program with phlebotomy training.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient flow and care under supervision of the clinic nurse.
• Obtain weight and vital signs; place patients in exam rooms.
• Conduct Point-of-Care testing and EKGs; apply splints and obtain specimens.
• Prepare patients for clinician evaluation and assist clinicians.
• Maintain orderly, stocked area and support nursing/medical staff as receptionist/unit liaison.

$22.53 - $28.84

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clinic Technician’s primary responsibility is to facilitate patient flow. The Clinic Technician provides basic patient care under the supervision of the clinic nurse. They may perform selected procedures as defined in the Patient Care Standards Manual. Patient care would include: obtaining, weight, vital signs, placing patients in exam rooms, conducting Point of Care testing, EKGs, applying splints, obtaining specimens, preparing patients for clinician evaluation, and assisting clinician. The Clinic Technician will also see that the area is orderly and well stocked with supplies and equipment that are ready for use. The Clinic Tech will also assist the nursing and medical staff by acting as receptionist, unit liaison, and secretary for the nursing unit.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:

• Previous medical training as EMT, Military Corpsman, Medical Assistant OR Six months previous back-office physician’s / clinic or emergency department experience

Desired:

• Previous hospital, back office, or non-emergency clinic services experience.
• Experience in Ambulatory Care setting

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

• Current CPR Certification

Desired:

• Current Phlebotomy Certificate (CPT I or CPT II) issued by the California Department of Health ServicesOR Medical Assistant Program graduate with phlebotomy skill training

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

Must have medical terminology knowledge. Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients, and public. Must demonstrate technical competence and capable of using computer software programs. General knowledge of point of care laboratory equipment. Must show sensitivity for the patient and their family. Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Capable of using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (Microsoft Office Suite) computer skills, as well as clerical skills, for a variety of support functions. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
