Job summary

Pana Community Medical Clinic in Oklahoma City is seeking a Clinic LPN or CMA to join our dedicated healthcare team in our primary care clinic. This non-exempt, full-time position offers weekday hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and an hourly pay range based on experience.

The role provides direct patient care, supports physicians and advanced practice providers, and requires graduation from an accredited practical nursing program, OK license, CPR certification, and medication administration

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Current Illinois license as a practical nurse.
• Current CPR certification.
• Certified in medication administration.
• Willing to work flexible alternate hours if needed.
• Completion of appropriate employee skills checklist within 90 days of employment.
• Knowledge in trends in practical nursing and cardiopulmonary practices as demonstrated by current competence.

Responsibilities

• Assist doctor in procedures and exams when needed.
• Call doctor’s orders to nursing homes, hospital and Quad County nurses as directed.
• Call prescriptions to pharmacies as directed.
• Call lab results to patients with doctor’s recommendation for treatment as directed.
• Clean and set up exam room for appropriate exam. Keep rooms adequately stocked with necessary supplies.
• Order or pickup supplies as needed. Reevaluate periodically, so stock items meets doctors satisfaction.
• Administer all IM and Sub Q medications. Chart Lot and Expiration Date of medication given, name, dosage, route, site and reaction observed.
• Use centrifuge for blood and urine when instructed.
• Prepare slides for microscope and focus for doctor’s visual inspection and evaluation.
• Perform in-house lab tests after collection, pregnancy urine tests, Accuchecks, Streptococcus tests, Urinalysis (dip) Hemoccults.
• Perform EKG, pulse oximetry, Audiogram, Tympanogram, breathing treatments, injections, blood draws, ear irrigations, peak flow meters, Doppler, clean and dress wounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-house lab tests after collection, pregnancy urine tests, Accuchecks, Streptococcus tests, Urinalysis (dip) Hemoccults.
• Perform EKG, pulse oximetry, Audiogram, Tympanogram, breathing treatments, injections, blood draws, ear irrigations, peak flow meters, Doppler, clean and dress wounds. Record all tests on charts, label tubes and appropriate lab slips. Deliver to the lab (Preferably certified for hearing testing).
• Clean and sanitize all instruments used.
• Interview and intercede with drug representative. Receive, store and catalog all medication samples. Keep record of samples given and dispose of expired medications.
• Record medication allergies and reactions. List current medications on med sheet with date started and doctor that prescribed them along with dosage and frequency taken.
• Instruct patients on usage of Accuchecks, blood pressure machines, low cholesterol diets, and and new onset diabetes. Make up low cholesterol diet and diabetes packets.
• Set up referrals when directed.
• Administer all flu injections. Obtain vaccine, deep accurate record of patients given injections, record on patient charges with a lot number of vaccine and expiration date, site, dosage given and reaction.
• Collect, distribute, and catalog instructional videos and written material for patient education. Make available for patients to view at home or in-house.
• Keep current listing of medications on hand (IM, IV, Sub Q). keep double locked the Demerol injectibles with listing of dosages given with doctor’s signature validating order. Waste unused portions of Demerol in doctor’s presence using proper procedure. Keep certain injectibles refrigerated and current.
• Keep current information on referral doctors in Decatur, Springfield, and Champaign areas.
• Dispose of all needle boxex in proper fashion.
• Always use universal precautions with all exposures to human secretions, fluids, etc.
• Be able to retrieve information from computer when required.
• In absence of office manager, be able to perform basic office information to setup patient’s visits, exams, etc. be able to use office equipment efficiently.
• Straight Cath patients when directed.
