Job summary

Massena Hospital in Massena, NY is seeking a Clinic LPN for the Massena Internists Float Pool. The position is 40 hours per week with 8-hour days, Monday through Friday, under RN supervision.

The LPN will perform nursing duties, assist physicians, administer medications, monitor patient conditions, and support patient comfort and safety in acute care settings. New York LPN licensure and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved school of practical/vocational nursing (or its equivalent).
• New York State licensure or permit to practice as licensed practical nurse.
• Must be able to perform and record effectively a wide variety of technical patient care procedures such as catheterizations, obtaining vital signs, and changing dressings.
• Must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with sick and/or irritable patients to gain their cooperation.
• BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Performs nursing duties under RN supervision using standard procedures.
• Assists physicians with examinations, treatments, tests and dressings.
• Maintains or discontinues IV infusions and manages IV lines as appropriate.
• Recognizes and responds to shock, respiratory distress, fainting, or hemorrhage to alleviate conditions.
• Aids in patient rehabilitation and daily living activities, ensuring proper body mechanics and alignment.
