Job summary

Huntsville Hospital's Marshall Medical Centers affiliate seeks a Clinic Assistant Offsite to support physician practices with specimen collection, scheduling, and pre-authorization processes. The role serves as the primary liaison to MMC, ensuring smooth information flow and patient care coordination.

The position supports lab specimen handling, result delivery, and documentation across locations, requiring strong communication and basic computer skills in Word, Excel and Outlook.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Prefer prior healthcare environment experience and/or customer service.
• Certification in phlebotomy is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules patients for diagnostic services as requested by the physician.
• Verifies insurance coverage and pre-authorizations.
• Communicates appointment information and preparation instructions to patients.
• Ensures timely delivery of results to providers via EMR or fax.
• Registers lab patients and ensures data accuracy in AccuReg.
• Prints medical records as needed to support continuity of care.
• Acts as liaison between the practice and Marshall Medical Centers/ MMC.
• Collects blood specimens via venipuncture or finger stick per guidelines.
• Prepares other specimens for lab transport.
• Maintains required statistics and clinical documentation.
