Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL, seeks a pharmacist with oncology expertise to ensure accurate dispensing and safe treatment validation. You will apply clinical knowledge to optimize therapies and collaborate with the healthcare team for appropriate care.

Educational sessions for clinicians and patients are part of the role, with emphasis on quality improvement and adherence to policies. A Florida Pharmacist license is required, with experienced oncology practice preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy and Florida RPh license.
  • Three years of progressive institutional oncology experience or an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Residency.
  • Proficient in chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy drug distribution and clinical practice.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense and validate chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy orders with accuracy.
  • Make clinical recommendations for therapy when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure appropriate therapy.
  • Respond to Code Blue and Rapid Response events and manage drug extravasations.
  • Provide education to physicians, nurses, residents and department staff.

Summary
  • - Will have an excellent knowledge base in oncology (or a related field) and be able to apply this to their practice.
  • - Will work to ensure accurate, safe and effective dispensing, order validation and processing of chemotherapy and non- chemotherapy orders.
  • - Will make clinical recommendations for treatment or modification of therapy when appropriate.
  • - Will have clinical interactions with the healthcare team to assure appropriateness of therapy.
  • - Will respond to Code Blue and Rapid Response events as well as drug extravasations/infiltrations to provide clinical recommendations and expedite medication delivery to the patient.
  • - Will provide educational services to physicians, nurses, residents and other healthcare professionals and within the Department of Pharmacy.
  • - Will provide clinical and educational counseling to patients.
  • - Will be involved in the verification of hazardous and non-hazardous compounding and preparations.
  • - Will provide functional supervision of technical staff working in their area including completion of job assignments and assuring adherence to institutional policies and procedures.
  • - Will focus on quality improvement and will provide input and suggestions to improve patient care.
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in pharmacy FL RPh License Either three (3) years of progressive institutional Oncology Pharmaceutical Experience or Advanced Pharmacy Practice Residency (PG-Y1) Proficient in the drug distribution process of chemotherapy agents and non-chemotherapy agents. Clinical practice skills in patient assessment, pharmacology, genomics, supportive care, and personalized medicine applications. Excellent skills with communications, writing, computer applications, group dynamics and supervision. Professional interpersonal skills are essential.

Salary Range

Salary Range $75.75 - $75.75 Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role. Actual compensation may vary based on location and a variety of job-related factors, including experience, skills, education, and internal equity among Team Members in similar positions.
