Responsibilities

In keeping with the Marian Regional Medical Center health care philosophy, the Clinical Laboratory Scientist Apprentice, under the direct supervision of a CLS, performs a wide variety of laboratory tests including chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of disease, in accordance with Mission and Laboratory Customer Service Standards. All diagnostic procedures and patient results reporting must be completed under supervision. This is a transitional job available for 90 days, allowing observation and on-site training in the lab. The position ends when the California Laboratory Field Services posts the CLS license number or upon first certification attempt failure, or after 90 days, whichever occurs first.

Qualifications

• Completion of Clinical Bench Rotation in Medical Laboratory Science Internship program.
• Bachelor's degree plus clinical internship meeting California State Department of Public Health licensure requirements.
• Qualified and prepared to take or having recently taken the ASCP or AAB certifying exam for California CLS licensure.
