Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a climbing arborist trainee to join our outdoor team in Toledo, OH. Your office will be outdoors, and you’ll begin by learning to climb and work safely on pruning and removal projects under supervision.

You will train across tree identification, pruning techniques, and equipment operation, with progression through cables, bracing, lightning protection, and hazard removal as you gain experience.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program on hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving courses on hire.
• Pesticide licenses/certificates preferred if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees! (Yes, we will pay you to do that.)
• Operate as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills
• Learn to perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Tree identification and industry pruning guidelines
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Learn how to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and more.

What You’ll Do
