Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Lombard, IL is seeking a climbing arborist trainee to learn tree trimming, pruning, and removal under supervision. You will join a tree crew and progressively learn skills while working outdoors on site.

Starting pay is $20–$23 per hour with opportunities for advancement, full-time permanent employment, and benefits like PTO, holidays, health plan, and a 401(k). No prior formal experience required; enthusiasm for outdoors and commitment to safety are valued.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and more.

Position Overview

Trim and remove trees, remove unwanted, diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areas by performing the following duties.
