Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a climbing arborist to join our on-site crew in San Antonio, TX. You will be responsible for pruning and removing trees, climbing with DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS systems, and collaborating with ground staff to ensure safe, high-quality work.

Applicants should have at least 1 year of tree-climbing experience, a love of the outdoors, and be prepared to complete Davey safety and orientation courses.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• 1 year tree climbing experience.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Complete Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program on hire.
• Complete Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course on hire.
• Licenses/certifications related to pesticides (where required by state law) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using Davey climbing systems (DdRT/MRS, SRT/SRS).
• Work with ground crew and crew leader as an active team member.
• Perform tree pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood from canopies.
• Install cables, bracing and lightning protection where needed.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment like chainsaws and chippers.

Job Duties

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire

• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
