Job summary

The Department of Public and Ecosystem Health at Cornell University is seeking applications for a full-time postdoctoral associate with a one-year appointment. The position conducts transdisciplinary research on the epidemiology of heat, wildfire smoke, cold, and other climate-related hazards; how social vulnerability and resilience shape health outcomes; and strategies to mitigate public health impacts.

The successful candidate will apply statistical and epidemiological models to examine

Qualifications

• PhD in Epidemiology, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Public Health, Economics or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in epidemiological methods and mortality datasets.
• Expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization with publication record.
• Experience in managing research projects and writing code for collaboration.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary research team and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Conduct epidemiological and statistical analyses of large complex datasets.
• Develop final publishable-quality tables and figures for manuscripts.
• Write and document research code to clean, maintain, and analyze data.
• Manage data-related aspects of research projects.
• Lead and assist with development of research manuscripts.
• Assist with grant applications; mentor students and collaborate with other institutions.
