Job summary

Wellspring Climate Initiative is seeking a Data Scientist to lead credible data analyses and products to inform climate mitigation strategies. Based in Irvine, CA, you will synthesize internal and external datasets, develop reproducible workflows, and create dashboards and reports in collaboration with partners and colleagues.

The role emphasizes data integrity, cross-team coordination, and the ability to communicate findings for decision-making.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a quantitative field; statistical analysis of data required.
• Experience in climate change data analytics or related field.
• Proficiency in RStudio (RShiny, RMarkdown) and GitHub.
• Knowledge of running custom scenarios in integrated assessment models (GCAM) preferred.
• Experience handling large/sensitive datasets and creating visualizations.
• Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively.
• Ability to discuss data validity and co-create analytical outputs.

Responsibilities

• Wrangling and synthesis of large external datasets into clear data products.
• Integration and statistical analysis of diverse datasets related to climate mitigation.
• Reproducible analysis of internal datasets to support decisions.
• Develop and maintain data workflows via GitHub for external and internal data.
