Own the client, the roadmap, and the outcome. Paired with a forward‑deployed engineer on every engagement.
Full‑time Remote (US) Regular travel to client sites Reports to the founders
A deployment strategist owns the client relationship and the shape of the engagement. You run discovery with the executive team, find where time and money leak, decide with them what gets built first, and set the baseline that proves the value. Then you run the engagement: scope, sequence, adoption, and the weekly conversation with the sponsor.
You are paired with a forward‑deployed engineer on every client. They own the build. You own the outcome the sponsor is paying for, and the change inside the company that makes the system stick.
What you will do
- Lead discovery: interview executives and frontline staff, map how the business actually runs, and turn a vague mandate into a ranked roadmap with an ROI baseline the sponsor signs off on.
- Shape the data foundation with the engineer. You know the business well enough to say which entities matter, which processes are real, and where the ontology has to bend to how people actually work.
- Run the engagement end to end: scope, milestones, weekly sponsor updates, and the hard conversation when priorities shift.
- Drive adoption. Train the client's teams on what was built, install the habits, and measure whether the baseline moved.
- Grow the account. Spot the next highest‑leverage problem, scope it, and bring the founders in to close it.
What we look for
- You have run engagements or operated a business before. Consulting, private equity operations, a founder seat, or a role where you owned a P&L. You have sat across from a sponsor who wanted proof.
- You are AI‑native in your own work. You live in Claude, Codex, or Cursor daily, you have built and shipped your own automations, and you can explain retrieval and agents to a CFO without hand‑waving.
- You can read a data model and argue with it. You do not need to write the schema, but you need to know when it is wrong about the business.
- You write clearly and update honestly. Most of the job is turning ambiguity into a plan a client can follow, and telling them the truth when the plan changes.
- You would rather own an outcome than a deliverable.
Nice to have
- Time inside a real‑economy industry: staffing, construction, healthcare, logistics, consumer services, finance.
- Experience selling or expanding professional services.
- Enough technical depth to prototype in Python or SQL when it is faster than asking.
What you get
- A client relationship, owned by you from week one, with a founder behind you.
- A new industry and a new operating problem every few months.
- Remote‑first, with time in New York, San Francisco, Boston, and Lehi, Utah when the client work calls for it.
- A serious AI budget: frontier model access, the tools you want, and a lot of tokens.
Compensation: Above‑market salary and bonus, plus meaningful equity.
