Client Services Account Manager – Sacramento Office
Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, has an immediate opening for a Client Services Account Manager in our Sacramento office. This individual manages a book of business of workers’ compensation policyholders with an estimated annual premium (EAP) of $250K and above while supporting new business growth through active participation in Client Services activities. The role services existing accounts, manages onboarding of new business for assigned accounts, and provides ongoing consultative account management services, while maintaining documentation of all policyholder/broker activities in Company databases.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Resolve customer service issues, timely address inquiries for all policies, and act as liaison with all internal departments; troubleshoot and consistently follow up with all parties for resolution.
- Coordinate and conduct onboarding meetings with assigned new policy holders and brokers; conduct prospect calls and meetings.
- Conduct quarterly claims reviews with policyholders and brokers for each assigned account.
- Complete mock claims reviews with new Claims Professionals.
- Maintain accurate account information in Salesforce; effectively utilize Salesforce to service new business and renewals and manage account assignments.
- Develop and foster strong working relationships with policyholders and brokers, providing timely and consistent communication regarding claim or service updates.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of Company products and programs.
- Successfully resolve customer service issues and respond to inquiries; act as a liaison between policyholders/brokers and Company staff, routinely follow up with all parties to ensure resolution.
- Initiate collaboration with the Claims, Underwriting, and Marketing teams to assess account retention, troubleshoot issues, and address service needs.
- Actively participate in Client Services team meetings by sharing ideas and thoughts to drive success of the team; be an active participant providing technical expertise in enterprise projects and company initiatives.
- Stay abreast of insurance industry changes and internal service team changes.
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with Company standards and supervisory direction; proactively communicate any problems or issues that may adversely impact a policyholder or the Company directly to the Client Services Manager and/or Director of Client Services.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university required; minimum of 3 years of experience in workers’ compensation claims handling and/or client services.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of prior experience in workers compensation claim handling required; minimum of 1 year of prior experience in client service preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong workers compensation industry knowledge required, including knowledge of workers compensation claim handling/adjusting.
- Computer Skills: Demonstrate basic technical competencies in the use of computers, standard business applications (e.g., Laserfiche), Microsoft Office/365, and ability to master proprietary and vendor software programs.
- Certifications: Valid United States driver’s license in good standing required; one or more of the following certifications preferred: California Self-Insurance Administrator (SIP), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Claims Practitioner in Workers Compensation (CPWC), Certified in Workers Compensation (CWC) or California Workers Compensation Claims Professional (WCCP), Property and Casualty Broker‑Agent.

$82,660 - $112,600 a year
