Job summary

Slalom is a modern consulting firm focused on strategy, technology, and business transformation. The Account Leader for Healthcare will represent all Slalom services for North and South Carolina, building executive relationships, shaping strategy, and driving growth within payer accounts.

Applicants must live within commutable distance to Charlotte, Raleigh, or Columbia, and the role is offered at the Sr Principal or Director level with accountability for revenue, delivery, and client outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6+ years of account management, client leadership, or business development experience within the healthcare payer industry.
  • Proven experience partnering with regional or national health plans and navigating complex payer organizations.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare payer operations, including claims, care management, member experience, provider network strategy, population health, or payment transformation.
  • Program and project management experience leading large-scale business and technology transformation initiatives.
  • Previous P&L ownership and accountability for revenue growth and account performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to build executive-level relationships and influence strategic decision-making.
  • Excellent negotiation, conflict management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience identifying, shaping, and closing consulting or professional services opportunities within healthcare organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Expand and strengthen Slalom's presence within assigned payer and health insurance accounts by developing trusted executive relationships and delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Partner with senior client leaders to influence strategic direction, identify growth opportunities, and shape transformation initiatives that advance organizational objectives across the healthcare payer ecosystem.
  • Drive revenue responsibility of $2-6M+ annually (dependent on level) through account growth, solution development, and strategic client engagement.
  • Maintain a utilization target of 40-60% (dependent on level).
  • Identify opportunities to grow and mature Slalom's offerings within payer organizations, including areas such as member experience, care management, provider engagement, operations modernization, digital transformation, and data & analytics.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to payer executives navigating industry challenges, including regulatory changes, value-based care, rising healthcare costs, evolving consumer expectations, and healthcare interoperability initiatives.
  • Provide executive oversight and governance across all sold and managed engagements to ensure delivery excellence, client satisfaction, and long-term account growth.
  • Drive business development efforts by developing solution strategies, creating Statements of Work (SOWs), and leveraging industry expertise to position and sell consulting services.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of payer market trends, emerging healthcare technologies, and industry best practices while collaborating across Slalom's practice areas to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Oversee project quality assurance, manage delivery teams, and be responsible for staffing, utilization, and successful engagement outcomes.

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.For this role, we are hiring at the following levels and targeted base pay salary ranges: The targeted base salary pay range for Sr Principal is $165,000 to $185,000, the targeted base salary pay range for Director is $190,000 to $210,000. In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus . Actual compensation will depend upon an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
