Job summary

IMA Financial Group is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits Specialist to support client service across complex accounts. You will manage relationships, resolve benefit issues, and guide clients through compliance considerations.

The role requires a life and health license, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and 3+ years in employee benefits. Strong MS Office skills and client-facing presentation abilities are essential.

Qualifications

  • State life and health license current per IMA standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of Employee Benefits experience with large/complex accounts.
  • Proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel) and InDesign, Box.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; detail-oriented.
  • Able to learn agency/client management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and demonstrates IMA’s core values and customer service ethos.
  • Maintains regular professional contact to foster relationships with client representatives.
  • Resolves benefits program issues and requests promptly, including direct interactions.
  • Conducts reviews and provides guidance on compliance-related matters for clients.
  • Leads client meetings and prepares materials for discussions.
  • Oversees vendor/carrier implementations and reviews contracts and documents.
  • Communicates updates and educates clients on carrier and partner services.
  • Maintains task management and ensures timely issue resolution.

Job description

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
  • Supports and demonstrates IMA’s core values

  • Maintains regular, professional contact to create and foster relationships with client representatives
  • Researches and resolves issues and requests in a timely manner, including issues requiring direct interactions
  • Answers questions related to benefits program
  • Conducts reviews and works to provide guidance on compliance related matters
  • Client meetings
  • Assists in and prepares materials and collateral for meetings and discussions
  • Actively participates in discussions
  • Records and reports meeting discussion and action items
  • Carrier and vendor management
  • Oversees new vendor/carrier implementations
  • Reviews carrier, vendor, and plan documents and contracts
  • Maintains regular contact with carrier and vendor representatives to ensure client advocacy and that issues are being resolved in a timely manner
  • Communication and education
  • Works with clients to develop short and long-term employee communication objectives
  • Creates member facing collateral pieces to promote and clarify benefit program features
  • Leads in person, virtual, and telephonic sessions to provide information and plan details to participants
  • Uses regular interactions to update clients on carrier and vendor partner features and services
  • Internal partnerships
  • Actively participates and contributes to client service team operations to meet deadlines
  • Effectively communicates client updates to appropriate team members and maintain task management system
  • Oversees job flow and outcome accuracy of assigned Account Coordinator
  • Assists with other team duties as needed – i.e., position vacancy, cover personal time off, etc.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS include but are not limited to:
  • Attains and maintains state life and health license in accordance with IMA standards
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent job experience
  • 3+ years of Employee Benefits experience, preferably with large and complex accounts
  • Intermediate MS office skills (specifically PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel, InDesign, Box)
  • Ability to learn and work in agency/client management systems and other related software and technology platforms
  • Ability to work independently and accurately, strong attention to detail
  • Intermediate interpersonal communication skills – written and oral – with the ability to articulate ideas and information in a clear and concise manner
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving
  • Ability to present information in a group setting (in person and virtually)
  • Intermediate organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with variable deadlines
  • Possesses high degree of diplomacy and tact while maintaining confidentially

Salary Range

$100,000—$120,000 USD
