Job summary

JBO The James B. Oswald Company in North Carolina seeks a seasoned client services leader to support a book of business, guide the client management support team, and collaborate with internal resources to retain and grow client relationships.

You will design benefit solutions, onboard new clients, coordinate renewals, and ensure data accuracy across records while maintaining strong relationships with HR leaders and CFOs.

Qualifications

  • College degree is preferred but not required.
  • Life, Health & Accident License required.
  • 3–5 years of industry knowledge in medical benefits.
  • Strong relationship and communication skills; independent work.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the key service contact, designing and implementing cost-effective benefit solutions and responding to requests in a timely and collaborative manner.
  • Build and maintain relationships with client contacts at the HR leadership and CFO levels.
  • Maintain the existing client base while up-selling and cross-selling Oswald products and services.
  • Direct the onboarding of new clients, obtain and catalog historical and current information, ensure data accuracy, and capture commissions.
  • Execute support team activities to meet client needs, including creating annual service calendars, scheduling meetings, and ensuring deliverables are completed by established deadlines.
  • Maintain online records, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and continuously updated for renewals and final information.
  • Collaborate with the service team on the preparation and peer review of all client deliverables, and present final approvals to the Client Executive.
  • Conduct open enrollment meetings and ensure all deliverables—pre-renewal projections, market evaluations, pricing summaries, utilization reviews, compliance notifications, wellness information—are accurate.
  • Prepare and secure commission agreements with carriers and/or Oswald fee agreements, and monitor receipt of commissions after contract acceptance.
  • Document meeting notes and activities, clearly outlining action items, responsible parties, and timelines for support staff to process.
  • Drive the strategic planning process with the Client Executive, developing long-term, integrated health-management strategies.
  • Develop detailed implementation timelines and plans, ensuring timely client deliverables through effective leadership of small teams.
  • Initiate renewal negotiations, create pre-renewal and renewal presentations, and coordinate with the Client Executive for review.
  • Direct the service team in developing online, client-specific enrollment portals.
  • Train support staff in key operational activities, developing their skills and industry knowledge base.
  • Understand healthcare reform, HIPAA, COBRA, and related legislation, guiding clients to meet regulatory requirements and ensuring compliance with ACA guidelines.
  • Pursue further education, coursework, and professional designations to enhance expertise in the field.

  • Intuitive judgment when involving the Client Executive and leadership on escalated issues.
  • Project‑management skills and the ability to deliver results with internal and external partners on time.
  • Experience overseeing CSAs and providing general tactical oversight.
