Job summary

Paychex is seeking a driven accounting professional to join our team in a hybrid role based in the United States. You will process, reconcile, and analyze key financial data, supporting payroll and compliance efforts for clients and internal teams.

Responsibilities include training staff, verifying transactions for SOX compliance, generating reports, and communicating with clients to resolve issues. This role requires an Associate’s degree and 1 year in accounting/finance and customer service,

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• At least 1 year of accounting or finance experience.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Process, research, reconcile, and analyze key data to meet financial standards.
• Train accounting specialists on procedures and SOX compliance.
• Verify completeness and consistency of financial transactions.
• Serve as a resource for clients and resolve cash posting exceptions.
• Generate, review, and distribute reports to ensure data accuracy and policy compliance.
• Prepare and participate in monthly team meetings to support development.
• Identify potential fraud or financial risks and alert management promptly.
• Participate in meetings affecting area of responsibility.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Performs independently various financial or accounting duties of increasingly more complex functions. Provides support to clients and team members.

Please note: The person who fills this role will train/work in one of the local offices listed in the posting. After training they will be allowed to work a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 days at home if desired.

The shift is Monday - Friday, approx. 8:30 am - 5:00 pm ET. (hours in other time zones may be adjusted).

• Processes, researches, reconciles and analyzes key data within designated group to ensure financial and quality standards are met.
• Helps maintain and train Accounting Specialists on procedures and procedure changes and reinforces current processes and procedures to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
• Verifies the completeness and consistency of accounting or financial transactions to ensure that controls and policies are being met.
• Acts as a resource for clients regarding processed transactions and reaches out to resolve cash posting exceptions.
• Generates, reviews and distributes reports to ensure accuracy of data and compliance with both Paychex policies and Sarbanes Oxley.
• Prepares, trains and engages in monthly team and department meetings to ensure continued technical and self-development.
• Evaluates transactions and alerts appropriate members of management of potential fraud or other financial risk factor promptly to ensure any impact on the business can be evaluated and appropriate action taken.
• Participates in meetings affecting area of responsibility to stay informed regarding risk factors that need to be monitored.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree - Required
• 1 year of experience in Accounting or Finance.
• 1 year of experience in Customer Service.

Compensation

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.66 hourly. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
