Job summary

Pinellas County Government seeks a Court Records Supervisor for the Clerk of the Circuit Court to oversee a sizable staff at the Pinellas County Justice Center. The role requires planning, assigning, and reviewing work in accordance with Florida statutes and regulations, and handling payroll and reporting tasks.

The ideal candidate has extensive Clerk’s Office experience, strong supervisory and public-speaking abilities, and a track record of coaching staff and ensuring accuracy in cash handling

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years’ experience in clerk/court records related work.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience in Clerk's Office.
  • Knowledge of Florida Statutes, Rules of Court, and cashiering principles.
  • Ability to speak in public and conduct sectional meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, assigns, supervises and evaluates the work of all employees assigned to section, including lead workers.
  • Processes payroll and staffing changes in OPUS.
  • Analyzes and resolves employee related issues/concerns.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly reports.
  • Reviews sectional manual and Clerk's website for accuracy and recommend changes as needed.
  • Leads, trains employees in section, and reviews their work
  • Processes and assists with all sectional job duties.
  • Prepares work schedules and reassigns work as necessary.
  • Resolves customer related issues.
  • Coaches and counsels employees.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties, regression testing and special projects as assigned.
  • Open and Close duties which include verifying and balancing of cash drawers for front and off counter tills.
  • Documents, prepares and conducts quarterly performance reviews of supervised staff utilizing Taleo.
  • Performs related work as assigned or required.

Location: 14250 49th Street N. Clearwater, FL
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8a, to 5 pm, with occasional 11am to 7pm on a rotational basis

The Clerk of the Circuit Court as an elected Constitutional Officer responsible for safeguarding public records and funds, is seeking a service minded Court Records Supervisor.

The Clerk Supervisor is responsible for supervising employees assigned in the Pinellas County Justice Center. An employee in this class plans, assigns, monitors, and reviews the work of a moderate to large staff of subordinate lead worker(s) and clerical employees. Employees in this class are held responsible for the proper performance of the assigned supervisory or technical activities of the department in accordance with the Florida Statutes, Rules of Court and regulations. Independent work decisions are made based on experience and knowledge of departmental operations as well as laws, rules and regulations governing Clerk of the Circuit Court Comptroller and Board of county Commissioners.

What Do You Need To Have?
Experience:

Legal or Clerk of the Circuit Court related work, court records traffic, governmental accounting or as a teller or a cashier depending on area of assignment; 1 year of which should include supervisory or leadership experience in the Clerk's Office.

Education:

Business or Public Administration, Accounting or a related field.

  • 5 or more years’ experience as described above.
  • Associate's Degree as described above, and at least 3 years’ experience as described above.
  • Bachelor's Degree as described above, and at least 1-year experience as described above.
  • Master's Degree or higher-level degree as described above.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the Florida Statutes, Rules of Court, Office Wide Policies and Procedures, departmental procedures, Personnel Rules and other legal authorities pertinent to the area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of the principles of cashiering, governmental accounting and record keeping procedures, depending on area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, grammar, spelling and math.
  • Ability to speak in public and conduct sectional meetings.
  • Ability to coach, counsel and assist employees to overcome job problems or performance deficiencies.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in accordance with laws and regulations and apply decision to work situation.
  • Ability to train and supervise subordinate employees.
  • Ability to maintain public relations in an effective, tactful and courteous manner.
