Responsibilities

  • Organize and maintain the overall layout and organization of the warehouse.
  • Ensure incoming trailers are unloaded safely, accurately, and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure outgoing trailers are loaded correctly, safely, and according to shipping requirements.
  • Coordinate shipping activities to ensure products are prepared and shipped according to established schedules and ship dates.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with inventory control activities.
  • Use inventory control management systems to track and maintain inventory information.
  • Verify materials and products are properly identified, packaged, crated, and prepared for shipment.
  • Perform crating and packaging activities as required.
  • Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect shipments and materials for accuracy and identify discrepancies, damage, or quality concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with production, warehouse, shipping, and other departments regarding shipping requirements and priorities.
  • Provide direction and leadership to employees involved in shipping and warehouse activities as assigned.
  • Motivate and support team members to meet productivity, quality, and shipping expectations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for the overall organization, layout, and efficient operation of the Shipping Department. This position ensures incoming and outgoing trailers are unloaded and loaded correctly, safely, and in a timely manner. The Shipping Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory and shipping activities while upholding all company safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Minimum Qualifications / Skills:

Education / Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3–5 years of shipping experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with inventory control management systems preferred.
  • Previous crating and packaging experience preferred.
  • Forklift operation experience preferred.
Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time while performing assigned duties.
  • Ability to crouch, crawl, stoop, bend, and work in various physical positions when required.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to successfully complete required forklift certification and operate a forklift in accordance with company safety procedures.
  • Ability to work according to a schedule and meet attendance, productivity, and shipping expectations.
