Job summary

Care New England seeks a phlebotomist to join our Providence, RI teams. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and all hires since 2010 must hold a phlebotomy certificate. Fluency in English and a pleasant phone manner are essential.

Duties include obtaining blood specimens by venipuncture and skin puncture, performing related tests, maintaining safety and confidentiality, and supporting clerical tasks in the testing area. Experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Phlebotomy experience in healthcare preferred.
  • Fluent English with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs screening tests and records results.
  • Maintains departmental policies, safety, infection control, and confidentiality.
  • Performs clerical functions in the testing area and assists with equipment and supplies.

Job Summary

High School graduate or equivalent with previous phlebotomy experiencein the healthcare field preferred. All employees hired during or after 2010 must have a phlebotomy certificate. Pleasant phone manner, strong interpersonal skills and fluency in the English language, and ability to accurately relate technical informationessential. Experience is preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates competency, individually and part of a multidisciplinary team, in performingclinical care and assessment of all patient populations.
  • Demonstrates competency in performing clinical care and assessment of patients of all ages: check which ages apply (newborns, infants, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics).
  • Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and skin punctures on inpatients and outpatients.
  • Performs various screening tests and record keeping associated with phlebotomy and reports results.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures and follows hospital safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Performs clerical functions associated with the testing area.
  • Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Acquires electrocardiograms.
  • Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
  • Preserves and protects patient rights to confidentiality at all times.
