Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Lab Assistant to support the distribution process within Anatomic Pathology. The role filing and distributing on-site materials and assisting with sending out relevant requests.

The successful candidate will have a High School diploma, strong communication skills, and basic computer knowledge to manage blocks, slides, and shipments in a fast-paced laboratory setting.

• Filing and retrieving blocks and slides, both on-site and preparing blocks and slides shipments for off site storage.

Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Lab Assistant.

In this role, the successful candidate supports the distribution process within the department of Anatomic Pathology. The Lab Assistants are responsible for filing and distributing the on-site and off-site materials produced by the laboratories and assisting with sending out any relevant send-out requests.

Job Responsibilities:

Filing and retrieving blocks and slides, both on-site and preparing blocks and slides shipments for off site storage. Discarding of only blocks and slides from archive.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or the equivalent.
• Effective oral, written, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic knowledge of personal computer

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• A minimum of one year of full time work experience in a laboratory setting

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
