Job summary

Virtual Service Operations is seeking an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) - L3 to join our team in Lorton, Virginia. The role focuses on security assessments, engineering secure solutions, automating defensive cyber activities, and advising leadership on risks and mitigations.

A TS/SCI clearance and cloud security experience are required. The position emphasizes hands-on configuration of security tools (e.g., ePO, Splunk, ACAS) in cloud environments, with travel up to 10% and onsite

Qualifications

• Active IAT/IAM/IASAE Level III certification such as: CASP + (SecurityX), CISSP, or CISM.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Cyber security (or related field) and 5-8 years of demonstrated professional experience OR 10+ years of demonstrated equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree.
• 3+ years of leadership experience.
• Demonstrated experience configuring, deploying, and sustaining cyber security tools within a cloud environment.
• Demonstrated experience configuring and provisioning cloud security tools and services
• Demonstrated experience configuring Microsoft Entra ID.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review technical security assessments of computing environments to identify vulnerabilities and compliance gaps.
• Engineer unique cybersecurity solutions to support Cyber Threat and Defensive Operations.
• Configure, deploying, and sustain cyber security tools such as (ACAS, ePO, Splunk, STIG/SCAP, YUM) in a cloud environment.
• Configure Entra ID and Azure security services / tools as they relate to ATO achievement.
• Automate security monitoring, threat assessments, and reporting functions.
• Analyze system and organizational security posture trends; provide findings to the ISSM/ISSO.
• Recommend cybersecurity measures and mitigations based on evolving threats and vulnerabilities.
• Implement security controls in alignment with DoD policies and principles of confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation.
• Recommend and plan modifications based on exercise results and security testing outcomes.
• Mitigate or recommend acceptance of identified risks and deficiencies during certification and testing activities.

Virtual Service Operations is searching for an Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to join our dynamic team of experts in Lorton, Virginia. As an ISSE, you will be responsible for conducting security assessments, engineering secure solutions, automating defensive cyber activities, and advising leadership on risks and mitigation strategies. Candidates should bring expertise with technologies such as ePO, Splunk, ACAS, Azure Automation, STIG/SCAP, and Active Directory to secure complex mission systems and ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards. As a part of this team you will support the development and sustainment of secure enclaves, providing enterprise services and cyber network defense capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• 5+ years leadership experience in cybersecurity or related technical field.
• Technical certifications in Microsoft Azure.
• Demonstrated experience configuring Azure VPN Gateways, Azure Monitor/Log Analytics, and other Azure security tools and services.

Requirements

• Must be within driving distance of Lorton, VA OR willing to relocate there.
• Must be willing to work onsite
• Must be willing and able to travel up to 10%
• Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. citizenship status
