Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks engineers, scientists, and developers to translate AI/ML and data science into mission impact. You will work on prototype software that processes data from open web to ontologies, explore new AI techniques, and communicate results to technical staff and government decision makers.

Minimum requirements include a BS/BA in a related field, experience with AI/ML and Python, and the ability to work independently or in a team.

Qualifications

• BS or BA in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience applying AI/ML, NLP, statistics to real-world problems.
• Experience developing reliable software (Python preferred).
• Comfort working from loosely defined requirements.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills.
• Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, and improve AI/ML and data science approaches for mission-critical problems.
• Design prototype software to gather and analyze data from diverse sources.
• Research and develop innovative AI techniques.
• Assess tradeoffs and communicate improvements to sponsors and teammates.
• Present findings clearly to leadership and decision makers.
