Job summary

Granules Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Chantilly, VA is hiring a Cleaning Operator to perform routine cleaning and sanitation of manufacturing areas in a GMP environment. You will follow SOPs, maintain hygiene, and ensure documentation is complete and accurate while wearing the required PPE.

The role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to handle cleaning agents safely. Reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor/Manager and supports cross‑department cleaning activities as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of manufacturing rooms, equipment, floors, walls, ceilings, corridors and other designated facility areas.
• Execute cleaning activities according to approved SOPs and cleaning schedules.
• Ensure manufacturing and support areas are maintained in a clean, sanitary, and GMP-compliant condition.
• Safely handle, prepare, and use cleaning agents and sanitation chemicals in accordance with approved procedures.
• Clean, inspect, and maintain cleaning tools and equipment.
• Complete cleaning records, logbooks, and related documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain proper housekeeping standards throughout assigned areas.
• Follow all GMP, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
• Wear and properly use required PPE.
• Report facility, equipment, safety, and housekeeping concerns to the supervisor.
• Support special cleaning activities, sanitation projects, and facility shutdown cleanings as assigned.
• Assist other departments with cleaning‑related activities when required.

The Cleaning Operator is responsible for performing cleaning and sanitation activities throughout the manufacturing facility to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), company procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Principle Accountabilities

• Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of manufacturing rooms, equipment, floors, walls, ceilings, corridors, and other designated facility areas.
• Execute cleaning activities according to approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and cleaning schedules.
• Ensure manufacturing and support areas are maintained in a clean, sanitary, and GMP-compliant condition.
• Safely handle, prepare, and use cleaning agents and sanitation chemicals in accordance with approved procedures.
• Clean, inspect, and maintain cleaning tools and equipment.
• Perform cleaning and sanitization of ancillary items and manufacturing accessories required for production activities, ensuring compliance with GMP requirements.
• Complete cleaning records, logbooks, and related documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain proper housekeeping standards throughout assigned areas.
• Follow all GMP, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
• Wear and properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Report facility, equipment, safety, and housekeeping concerns to the supervisor.
• Support special cleaning activities, sanitation projects, and facility shutdown cleanings as assigned.
• Assist other departments with cleaning‑related activities when required.
• Maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain and replenish gowning supplies in the gowning rooms to ensure compliance with GMP requirements and uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

Requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of GMP requirements and pharmaceutical manufacturing practices preferred.

Experience & Education

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
• Ability to lift and move cleaning supplies, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to work in a GMP environment.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals and sanitation agents.
• Must wear required PPE and comply with gowning requirements.
