Job summary

New York Institute of Technology on Long Island seeks a Cleaner to work Monday–Friday, 5:00 PM–1:00 AM. The Cleaner performs routine custodial duties to maintain a safe, clean environment per established standards under the 32BJ Agreement.

Preferred HS Diploma or GED; prior cleaning experience required. Must lift 50 lbs, bend/st oop, climb a 6-foot ladder, work in confined spaces, and hold a valid NYS driver's license.

Qualifications

• Preferred HS Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Previous Professional Cleaning Industry Experience Required.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend and stoop, climb a six (6) foot ladder and work near/in confined spaces and storage rooms.
• Must have a valid NYS Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect buildings with trash/recycling removal.
• Sweep and mop surfaces manually.
• Scrub, wax, vacuum, extract, shampoo, dust, polish and buff surfaces.
• Clean light fixtures.
• Foam showers and restrooms.
• Mix cleaning chemicals properly.
• Sanitize/disinfect surfaces using auto scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, power washers, carpet extractors and hand tools.
• May restock bathroom supplies.
• Follow directions from NYIT Administration and supervisory teams.
• May perform Facilities condition assessments/inspections when requested.

Responsibilities

New York Tech’s Long Island campus seeks a Cleaner to work Monday – Friday, 5:00 PM – 1AM.

The Cleaner is responsible for performing routine custodial and cleaning duties to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment in accordance with established standards and procedures. This position is covered under the 32BJ Collective Bargaining Agreement.

• Clean and disinfect buildings - tasks include trash and recycling, bottle/paper removal.
• Manually sweeping and mopping surfaces.
• Manually and mechanically scrubbing, stripping, waxing, vacuuming, extracting, shampooing, dusting, polishing and buffing surfaces.
• Cleaning light fixtures.
• Foaming showers and rest rooms.
• Properly selecting and mixing cleaning chemicals.
• Sanitizing and disinfecting surfaces and fixtures, etc. using auto scrubbers, buffers, vacuum cleaners, power washers, carpet extractors and hand tools.
• May be required to restock bathroom supplies.
• Must take direction from NYIT Administration, Management, and supervisory teams in a timely and professional manner.
• May be requested to complete Facilities condition assessments/inspections on an optional basis to ensure conditions are communicated through the University/Department.

Qualifications

Preferred HS Diploma or GED Equivalent.

Previous Professional Cleaning Industry Experience Required.

Required to adhere to NYIT policies and procedures, including but not limited to time and attendance requirements and policies pertaining to the use of NYIT-issued uniforms.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend and stoop, climb a six (6) foot ladder and work near/in confined spaces and storage rooms.

Must have a valid NYS Driver's License.
