Job summary

Cattaraugus-Allegany-Erie-Wyoming BOCES seeks a Cleaner for the RISE program in the Exceptional Education division. The role runs 7 AM to 3 PM, under the Building Principal, performing routine cleaning and light maintenance.

A high school diploma is required; prior commercial cleaning is preferred and experience with floor cleaning equipment is a plus. A State Education Department clearance is required for positions involving direct contact with students.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps and mops floors and stairs.
• Dusts chairs, tables, and other furniture.
• Washes windows, walls, sinks, and other fixtures.
• Polishes furniture and metal furnishings.
• Empties waste baskets, collects and disposes of rubbish.
• Waxes floors.
• Moves and arranges chairs, tables, and other furnishings and equipment.
• Cleans clothes, equipment, and other laundry items using washing and drying machines.
• May load and unload materials manually or using a hoist.
• May shovel snow from sidewalks, stairs, and other passages.
• May direct facility users to appropriate areas and observe conduct to report violations.
• May open, close, and check building security windows, locks, and doors.
• May collect, fold, and distribute laundry and linen items.
• May perform minor maintenance tasks.
• May operate motor vehicle to travel between sites.

Description:
This is primarily routine manual work calling for the efficient and economical performance of cleaning and minor maintenance tasks.
Work is performed under general supervision according to established procedures.
A Cleaner does related work as required.

Salary:
$33,141 per year
Qualifications:
