Description

Position Summary: The Solar Installation Assistant Trainer is responsible for assisting the Trainer in teaching the designated curriculum to learners in GINM’s classroom and training lab. This position plays an essential role in ensuring course content is delivered at a consistently high quality that maximizes learner understanding, as well as their potential for obtaining employment. This position also assists in community engagement and education about the program as well as recruitment and job placement activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Adherence to the attendance and punctuality policies of Goodwill
  • Exhibits excellent customer service skills
  • Responsible for the completion of construction curriculum.
  • Implements curriculum, lesson plans, training calendars, and activities in line with content and standards. This includes set up and maintenance of the training classroom, training lab, and training equipment.
  • Support the Clean Tech Trainer in delivering curriculum ensuring participants achieve learning outcomes.
  • Contributes to department effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-term issues and recommending solutions.
  • Maintains excellent communication across all levels of management.
  • Assist the Clean Tech Trainer in teaching and supervising the necessary safety procedures for use and handling of equipment & tools.
  • Teach appropriate handling of construction problems arising at the building site through demonstration and modeling skills.
  • Provide on the job training supervision for learners on customer installations
  • Keep leadership informed about issues regarding performance of learners.
  • Complete learner progress and other documentation as assigned.
  • Ensure learners’ compliance with attendance and other program policies.
  • Stays current and in compliance with industry training requirements and certifications as required by GINM, Goodwill Industries International or grant providers.
  • Assist with recruitment and job placement activities.
  • Engages in community events to aid in education about the Clean Tech program.
  • Build and maintain lab equipment.
  • Work closely with department leadership on program logistics, documentation, feedback, and improvements.
  • Participates in the development, coordination and implementation of budgets within the areas of responsibility. Manages and reviews financial information and maintains costs within budget parameters.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information and complies with all GINM confidentiality requirements, including HIPAA where applicable.
  • Responsible for CARF compliance and maintaining standards in areas of responsibility.
  • Follows professional ethics as set in the Code of Conduct/Business Ethics policy.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as assigned.
Requirements

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, walk, and stand. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift/move up to fifty (50) pounds and be exposed to outside weather conditions.

Physical ability to perform activities related to solar installation work, including but not limited to: standing for long periods (sometimes on a sloped surface), bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting, working above the shoulders, working with manual and electric hand tools, repetitive motions, lifting and carrying up to 40lbs, working in direct sunlight, working with trip hazards, and working at heights.

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and or abilities required for the position. Individuals must be able to pass a criminal background check, and drug test. Individuals must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license, liability insurance, insurability under the agency insurance carrier, a dependable vehicle and a clean driving record.
