Job summary

Southern California Edison seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead complex projects across light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicle electrification initiatives. The role drives project initiation through closure, coordinating cross‑functional teams and managing scope, schedule, and budget within the CRPM group in California.

You will mentor junior PMs, communicate with executive stakeholders, and ensure safety, compliance, and data‑driven decisions while navigating a hybrid work model in Pomona, CA.

Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience in project management.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, project construction management, or a related field; PMP credential preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple high-impact projects with tight timelines and various stakeholders.
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook with proficiency using DM, Click, and SAP.

Responsibilities

  • Manages high impact, strategic projects effectively using project management principles, tools, and techniques under time constraints, shifting priorities, and making critical decisions, providing direction to supporting team members.
  • Directs project initiation, planning, execution, control, and closure for core disciplines of project management (scope, schedule, and budget) independently and provides guidance/mentorship to subordinate Project Managers/Associate Project Managers.
  • Leads moderate to highly complex projects and delivers on strategic objectives by influencing stakeholders across multiple departments and exercising independent decision making, with limited consultation from leadership.
  • Collaborates with Project Managers, department/division senior and executive leadership, and other stakeholders internal and external to the company as a key consultant to provide recommendation and make critical decisions that that have broad impacts across multiple organizations.
  • Manages planning, development, and/or execution of electric transmission/distribution projects, which may include but is not limited to, wildfire, infrastructure replacement, load growth, poles, line upgrades, maintenance, or installations.
  • Drives milestones and reports on large transmission and/or distribution projects which may include designs, schedules, projects applications, compliance and safety documentation, regulatory filings, and local and state agency coordination.
  • Leads technical standards, specifications, and architecture that optimize system reliability, efficiency, capacity, resilience, and asset management.
  • Oversees technology integration efforts including new SCADA systems, digital substations, automation, and advanced grid analytics platforms.

Become a Clean Energy Senior Project Managerat Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will work in the Clean Energy Project Management (CRPM) group within Project and Program Management, responsible for leading projects through design construction for light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicle customers requesting service throughout the SCE territory. As the Electric Vehicle (EV) market continues to grow, light, medium, and heavy-duty EV customers continue to increase their footprint requesting new services or expansion of their existing services, and require customer focus and support of their projects.

Transportation Electrification (TE) is a critical strategic initiative for Southern California Edison (SCE) and we are taking a leading role to ensure that TE plays a major part in the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) and criteria pollutant emissions in California. The transportation sector is one of the largest consumers of energy, second to electric power generation, with the majority of energy consumed coming from petroleum.

Electrifying the transportation sector and reducing petroleum usage is critical to realizing California's ambitious climate and air quality goals. In addition to cleaning and modernizing the grid, SCE is offering tariffs to support charger availability, make electric fueling more affordable and increase awareness of the benefits of electric transportation.

Responsibilities
  • Manages high impact, strategic projects effectively using project management principles, tools, and techniques under time constraints, shifting priorities, and making critical decisions, providing direction to supporting team members.
  • Directs project initiation, planning, execution, control, and closure for core disciplines of project management (scope, schedule, and budget) independently and provides guidance/mentorship to subordinate Project Managers/Associate Project Managers.

  • Leads technical standards, specifications, and architecture that optimize system reliability, efficiency, capacity, resilience, and asset management.
  • Oversees technology integration efforts including new SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, digital substations, automation, and advanced grid analytics platforms.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ten or more years of experience in project management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience in project management delivery of scope, schedule, and budget commitments while overseeing full IPSEC scope (Initiation, Planning, Scheduling, Executing, and Closing).
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, project construction management, or a related field; PMP credential preferred. Ability to integrate work across relevant areas, lead risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide outstanding service to internal and external customers.
  • Experience managing multiple high-impact projects with tight timelines and various stakeholders with demonstrated proficiency in resource and project planning, decision making, and results delivery.
  • Exceptional business analytics and problem-solving skills to drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Effective communication with an adaptive style to collaborate effectively with clients, residents, cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to organize and proactively prioritize a large volume of projects simultaneously.
  • Strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively handle stress and engage in continuous learning.
  • Experience mentoring co-workers, providing small team leadership, delivering on-going training as needed for peers and support personnel.
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook with proficiency using Design Manager (DM), Click, and SAP.

Additional Information

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • Position will require up to 30% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
