Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Clean Agent Fire Protection Technician to inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair clean agent fire suppression systems in Spokane, WA. The role operates with minimal supervision, ensuring systems meet NFPA standards and customer expectations while adhering to safety policies.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, 3+ years in fire and life safety, NICET II, and the ability to read technical drawings.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if driving role.
  • Strong working knowledge of fire suppression systems and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and complete standard inspection jobs without direct supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and system drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform service, testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of clean agent fire suppression systems in accordance with applicable NFPA standards, manufacturer specifications, and company safety policies.
  • Inspect valves, gauges, piping, sprinkler heads, alarm connections, and related suppression system components.
  • Perform functional testing to verify proper system operation and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Identify deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and communicate findings clearly to customers and supervisors.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, system layouts, inspection reports, and technical manuals.
  • Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete inspection work efficiently and safely.
  • Complete inspection reports, deficiency documentation, and service records accurately and on time.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job progress and system status.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and customer site requirements.
  • Travel to job sites as required.

The Clean Agent Fire Protection Technician performs inspections, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of clean agent fire suppression systems in accordance with applicable NFPA standards, manufacturer specifications, and company safety policies. This role is fully functioning within core technical responsibilities and can complete standard jobs without direct supervision. The technician ensures systems operate properly, meet customer expectations, and comply with applicable codes and standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform service, testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of clean agent fire suppression systems in accordance with applicable NFPA standards, manufacturer specifications, and company safety policies.
  • Inspect valves, gauges, piping, sprinkler heads, alarm connections, and related suppression system components.

Required Qualifications

Other Duties
  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
  • Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
  • Use of hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
Pay Range
  • $35 - $45 Hourly DOE
