Job summary

Anchor Academy is a therapeutic day school in Massachusetts offering trauma-informed services for students aged 10–22 with complex needs. The Classroom Support Staff role focuses on coaching, intervention delivery, and social-emotional development within a school day schedule.

Responsibilities include collaborating with educators, developing academic and clinical interventions, and modeling ARC-based trauma-informed care to empower students in their education and personal growth.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Minimum high school diploma; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with adolescents with complex mental health and learning needs.
  • CORI/OIG background check acceptable.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with school staff to coach and check-in with students during the day.
  • Assist in developing and implementing academic and clinical interventions.
  • Provide social-emotional support to increase independence and access to curriculum.
  • Model trauma-informed care via ARC treatment philosophy.

Anchor Academy is a therapeutic day school that specializes in trauma-informed services for students ages 10-22 with complex trauma histories, mental health issues, educational challenges, and/or behavioral difficulties. Anchor Academy offers students a supportive environment that addresses their education, clinical, pre-vocational, recreational and behavioral needs. Individual, group, nursing, and milieu counseling are provided.

Anchor Academy utilizes unique ARC (Attachment, Self-Regulation, and Competency) and BCC (Building Communities of Care) treatment frameworks that focus on building individual capacities for emotion regulation, personal strengths, and healthy relationships. Certified special education teachers provide students with curriculum that is aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework.

Schedule

Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $19.00 to $25.00 per hour. The listed range reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting the position. The actual compensation an employee is offered may vary based on several factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications and qualifications. This range may be modified in the future.

In this position, you will:
  • Work collaboratively with all school employees to provide coaching and check-ins for students throughout the school day.
  • Assist in developing and implementing academic and clinical interventions. Provide in-the-moment skill development and job/vocational coaching
  • Provide social and emotional awareness to increase independence and access to the academic curriculum
  • Model trauma informed care through the ARC treatment philosophy.

Requirements
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • A minimum of a High School diploma is required, Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Must have experience working with adolescents with complex mental health and learning needs.
  • Able to obtain and interpret information in terms of the needs of emotionally dysregulated or mentally ill adolescents.
  • Understanding of the range of interventions and treatment required by adolescents.
  • Acceptable CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and OIG background check.
  • Maintains valid driver’s license. Able to work alone in an unsupervised environment.
